May 6 Saturday Caribou Creek Greg Durocher Park near Lion's Head, hike down to creek about half a mile and 200 feet down to rockhound or pan gold. Jaspers, agates, and thunderegg fragments.
May 13 Saturday Bonnie Lake Phillip Elliott Short, strenuous hike and bushwack to look for prehnite in cliffs and scree.
May 21 Sunday Hatcher Pass Cleanup Bonnie Hepburn Meet at the Gold Mint parking lot in Hatcher Pass at 11 A.M. Free parking for volunteers, bring safety vests, gloves.
June 1-5 Thursday-Monday Tanana Road Andres Macias Base camp at Manley Hot Springs. Carpool to explore gravel pits along new road towards Tanana. Trip begins and ends in Fairbanks
June 24-25 Saturday-Sunday Kenai Spirit Stones Phillip Elliott ATV/4WD on beach 10 miles north of Captain Cook St. Park to look for Spirit Stones in the tidal flats.
July 14-23 Friday-Sunday (10 days) Little Nelchina Phillip Elliott ATV, camping, and hiking trip to Little Nelchina area. Look for geodes, agates, crystals, and jasper.
August 11-13 Friday-Sunday Taylor Hwy to Chicken Phillip Elliott / Kevin Sumner Meet in Tok, rockhound along the Taylor Hwy, camping in Chicken
August 14-20 Monday-Sunday Whitehorse Phillip Elliott / Kevin Sumner Continue exploring and rockhounding the Top of the World Hwy to Dawson City, on to Whitehorse, return via the Alaska Hwy.
September 8-11 Friday-Monday McCarthy / Strelna Shelia Macias / Chris Marko / Andres Macias Explore the copper mining town of Kennicott and the mine site. At Strelna, hunt for Chrysanthemum stone and bornite.
September 15 or 17 Friday or Sunday Wishbone Hill Greg Durocher Look for amber at night with UV lamps, date weather dependent. Trip dovetails with Elliott's Summer Wake.
September 16 Saturday 4 P.M. Elliott's Summer Wake Elliotts' Can you believe it's the 7th year? Crazy. Join us in celebrating another year of rockhounding. Main dish and sodas provided, bring a dish to share.
October 14-23 Saturday-Sunday (9 days) New Mexico Rockhounding Bonnie Hepburn / Greg Durocher / Anita Williams Anita will setup rockhounding activities from Silver City. Attend Grant County Rock Club meeting October 22.
